On Saturday, 7th December, two of our Phoenix Ladies players, Rosie Abraham and Sophie Matthews, had the incredible honour of stepping onto the hallowed turf of Wembley Stadium. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity came as part of a training session and match organised by the FA. Out of a staggering 17,000 applicants nationwide, our dynamic duo made the cut and had an unforgettable day representing the Phoenix with pride.
The day was packed with excitement as Rosie and Sophie got to experience the full Wembley magic -from walking through the iconic tunnel to preparing in the very same changing rooms as footballing legends. The highlight of the day? Rosie scoring a goal in the stadium known as the "Home of Football"!
Here’s what our two stars had to say about the experience:
Rosie:"Playing at the home of football with one of my teammates was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and the feeling of scoring a goal there made the experience extra special."
Sophie:"Being given the opportunity to play and walk out onto the Wembley pitch and be in the changing rooms where it all happens will always be a memorable moment for me. It was a fantastic day that I’ll never forget!"
This incredible experience showcases not only the dedication and talent of Rosie and Sophie but also the supportive spirit of the Phoenix Ladies team.
Well done, ladies! You’ve represented Phoenix brilliantly, and we couldn’t be prouder of you. Here’s to more opportunities and success for our team!
